This Chicago engagement session was such a dream to shoot. Not only are Michelle and Eric the most wonderful models to work with from a photographer’s perspective, but this session was extra-special because Michelle is my sister! Getting to capture her celebrating this exciting time in her life – with the man she loves in the city she loves – was a real dream come true.
Eric and Michelle met on the job: they worked on the same project at Deloitte, and after a while, their connection was too strong to deny. They struck up a long-distance love story, and when the time was right, these small-town kids moved to Chicago together to fulfill their shared dream of living in the “big city” one day. The rest is history.
For their Chicago engagement session, Michelle and Eric put the whole shoot into my hands and asked me to design the perfect experience. It was such a joy to do this! I got to choose locations that were significant in their story, as well as places that celebrated the best of Chicago’s incredible architecture. That’s a huge perk of hiring a photographer to plan a destination engagement shoot – we’ll decide on everything with the final photographs in mind.
For this Chicago engagement session, we started in Millennium Park – a beautiful spot that felt romantic and lush but still had the great Chicago skyline behind it. As part of designing this shoot, I was able to put the looks together. I went with a color scheme of white and blue, and I was so glad that I did – this garden was full of white flowers, and Michelle looked so gorgeous surrounded by them!
